When roasted Dandelion Root resembles the sweet-bitter taste of coffee. It also contains the powerful prebiotic inulin and is used by herbalists for its contribution to women's health. Combining it with anti-inflammatory turmeric and antioxidant-rich ginger creates a nourishing drink that your body will thank you for.

Instructions
Boil the ginger, turmeric root and dandelion root in water for 30 minutes. If using ground turmeric add this after the dandelion and ginger have boiled for 30 minutes.
Strain and discard the roots, saving the liquid. Add the liquid back to the pot with the milk or milk alternative, as well as the honey or maple syrup. Heat until the milk mixture is warmed to your liking.
Before serving, the option to quickly blend your drink in a high-speed blender to build some foam on top. I find this only works with a milk or milk alternative that has a fat content (organic soy milk, homemade almond milk, pea milk).
Option to sprinkle to ground cinnamon before serving and add some honey or maple syrup for sweetness.
Notes
Using roasted dandelion root powder: Use 2 heaped teaspoons of dandelion root powder in place of dandelion root chunks. The powder does not need to be strained out.Make it vegan: Use a plant-based milk. Use maple syrup in place of honey.Making it Dairy-Free: Use any plant-based milk in this recipe. A milk with some fat content will result in a creamier consistency and creates some desirable foam on top. Try pea milk, organic soy milk or homemade almond or hemp milk.*Using Powdered Turmeric: Use 1 tsp of powdered turmeric in place of the fresh turmeric root. I like using both types of turmeric as I find the powdered turmeric helps to enhance the vivid orange colour.Make Dandelion Tea: Use unroasted dandelion root, and omit the step for frothing the milk.Increase the bioavailability of medicinal properties: Add a pinch of black pepper to enhance the beneficial compounds in the turmeric.
