Teach Foods First – Traditional First Nations Foods Lesson Plans

These lesson plans were created with a team from the homelands of the Coast Salish, Nuu-chah-nulth and Kwakwakaw’akw Families (as known as Vancouver Island) to help teachers facilitate Canada’s Food Guide in a culturally appropriate way while acknowledging that the original peoples of these lands had a strong connection to the oceans, lands and forests, and the foods that were provided. The lesson plans include  ‘Setting the Table: Traditional First Nation Foods Lesson Plans‘ for Grades K-8, ‘Food Is A Gift‘ for K-2, ‘People I Like To Eat With‘ for K-2, ‘Gifts Of The Season‘ for Grades 3-5, and ‘Gifts Of The People‘ for Grades 6-8.
